Yay! It's Time for Summer Vacay!

Hello Dear Grog Readers! The Grog Collective is taking a wonderful summer break from now until August 14.

Summer is short and reading lists are long. We're  stepping back to recharge and reconnect with friends, family and the wonders of Summer.

Eileen Meyer and Julie Phend are preparing a phenomenal post just in time for back to school visits for authors.

Summer Break & What to Do in the Meantime

Recharge with nature this summer.

We all know that a change in routine is good. As kids, we looked forward to summer break because, well, it was a BREAK. Here on the GROG, we will be taking the month of July off, but as Arnold Schwarzenegger likes to say, "I'll be back." 

During this break, take time to recharge. Do something new and exciting for yourself and/or your writing! Compare it to jumping off the high dive board when you were a kid. Go ahead, JUMP! Remember that exhilaration when you finally hit the water? Remember that plunge to the bottom and the surge to the surface? 

Jump on in the water's great!

Go ahead and do it this summer. Some of us are

• reading in a new genre
• exploring a new country or park
• meeting new people
• exchanging manuscripts with new critique partners
• heading to a conference
• joining writer groups like Teachers Write and KidLit Summer School

Get out of your natural habitat to inspire the creative juices.

Well, shut them books and throw 'em away And say goodbye to dull school days Look alive and change your ways It's summertime...  For many of us its summertime.  For some that means staying up late reading, watching movies, smores around the campfire, hitting the pool and/or the beach.  For many, its time for plain old rest and recuperation!   As we move into the summer months, the GROGGERS want to keep blogging, but we are going to relax our schedule a bit.   Go ahead and put on those board shorts and loose t-shirts.  Put on your sunglasses and head on out.  We'll still be here.  We will be posting three days a week through the summer.  You'll notice that the posts will be a little different than our daily foci we used during the 'school year.'   #170125784 / gettyimages.com "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." Saint Augustine   We believe that adventures, whether they be road trips across the country, or just to a new museum, make us who we are as writers.  So, you'll be reading a lot about our adventures over the summer.    Many of us are attending conferences on both sides of the country.  We'll be writing about those adventures too!   So, lather on the suntan lotion, put on those shades, grab a cold drink.  It's going to be a great summer!  Come join us!
